3 Reasons Why Everyone Can Benefit From Having a Therapist
At some point, you’ve probably thought to yourself, “I got this I can handle it.” Well, while that may be true some of the time, or even most of the time, it’s never true all of the time. Additionally, even when it is true, it doesn’t mean you’re doing things AS effectively as you could. Everybody needs to have a therapist, not because everybody has a clinical diagnosis, but rather because we are all human and seeking success, love, connection, and happiness in our own ways. The right therapist or coach can help you find that. These are the three primary reasons why everybody should have a therapist.
You’re human, congrats! What this means is that you are going to fail, flounder, misjudge, and all around screw up sometimes. The point of getting a therapist, therefore, is not to REMOVE that inevitability, but rather to decrease the number of times it happens! This in turn can increase the rate of success you have when chasing whatever goals you personally possess. Don’t overthink it. You’re imperfect, and that’s okay. Chase after that life you’ve always wanted with EXPERT direction backing you up!
Emotions matter. In a world where logic, technology, and media storms interrupt our day-to-day experiences, we lose sight of our emotional side. Part of the “human experience” is feeling things; feeling in a way that other animals can’t. Feeling so deeply for loss, love, joy, and other emotions. You NEED to experience these things. Even sadness and crying can be healthy and proper. Having a therapist gives you direct access and the opportunity to REALLY feel what you need to feel on a regular basis without judgment and with understanding and compassion returning to you.
You want success, right? Every day within every relationship, responsibility, workout, and feat that you act on, psychology is there. It’s the basis behind almost every decision you make, whether you notice it or not. Thus, if you want success in any form, you best be ready to take care of your mind. Your interpretations, understanding (or lack thereof), and schema all play a role in the decisions you make daily. Poor decisions are NOT going to get you that $100,000 salary, beautiful marriage, or advanced career. Get used to it. It’s OKAY to use the knowledge and power of psychology for good.
Hopefully, this gave some insight into why everyone can benefit. Mental health and performance is a spectrum that everybody moves across daily. Increasing the number of days we access the higher end of the performance on the spectrum is predicated by the WORK we put in. I highly encourage you to get started today, even if you yourself are a therapist or coach.
